The Dolmette is the main attraction at the Conti Tech stand at the trade show Autotechnica in Frankfurt.

05.09.2004

The Dolmette goes on display at the trade show GAFA in Cologne.

03.09.2004

The big race at the Eurospeedway in Lausitz.

20.08.2004

The Dolmette is taken to Ulsnis, so that the ladies’ handball team can practise the starting procedure. “Bild am Sonntag” had already run a feature on it, while RTL took the opportunity to record some more footage for TV.

18.08.2004

Test runs at the barracks in Schleswig. We put the bike through its paces at a disused army barracks in Schleswig, concentrating on standing starts and timed runs. Two TV crews from N3 (Kiel and Hamburg) are there to film us. We get some spectacular footage shot from the moving Dolmette: Andi has one camera strapped to his knee, another is mounted on the steering head and films Andi at the controls during a run.

17.08.2004

Presentation in Hamburg at DOLMAR headquarters. Grand press launch of the new comic book “Freie Bahn mit Marzipan” and of the Dolmette outside the DOLMAR factory, with radio and TV crews also in attendance.

16.08.2004

The Dolmette is put on display in Berlin to coincide with the book launch. The presentation takes place in the highly appropriate surroundings of the Meilenwerk vintage and classic car centre. Some 30 journalists and 3 TV crews attend the launch.

3.8.2004

Continuation of trials on the Contidrom track

7.30 a.m.
A Dolmar team rushes off to Hamburg in order to work on new parts needed for the rear axle.

1.00 p.m.
The rest of the team and the field crew prepare the bikes - as far as is possible - for the next test run. Meanwhile, work is being done on the Bugatti (16 cylinders, 1001 PS) in the nearby workshop.
The two teams exchange experiences.
The Bugatti people are amazed by our machine, which has eight cylinders more than their motor-bike.
We try to get a more suitable test track. Conti proves highly cooperative and offers us the high-speed oval track, which is just under 3 km long and has two steep curves. After taking a look at it, we gladly accept their offer.

4.00 p.m.
The Dolmette is rolled out onto the oval.
Another TV crew (Hamburg1) happens to be at the Contidrom and does not want to miss the opportunity to take some effective shots of the Dolmette as it is put through its paces. However, it manages only one half of the course and lands up on the other side of the track with the Harley Davidson clutch burnt out.
Back in the workshop, we discover that the damage is not as bad as it looks. The problem is quickly overcome.

5.00 p.m.
The Red Porsche Killer is also tested on the long straight stretch of track. Unfortunately, the chain drive breaks and there are several other problems such as the carburettor, the spark plugs and the drive belt.

7.30 p.m.
Following a second lot of repairs, the Dolmette is rolled out once more and is prepared for the start.

8.00 p.m.
The machine takes to the straight with impressive acceleration (now the clutch has stopped slipping). The machine then turns and flies post the cheering team of technicians who are standing there with a look of astonishment. Our Vectra is not doing a bad job keeping up. The Dolmette completes several rounds of the track without difficulty and reaches speeds of up to 200 km in third gear. She only slows down on the steep curves. The Vectra, which is slower on the straight, catches up on the curves.

9.30 p.m.
We leave the Contidrom feeling satisfied with ourselves, the Dolmette is running well, and the technical lads from Red Porsche Killer have (yet) to get their act together.

2.8.2004

Test run on the Contidrom and the press have been invited to watch. Our revolutionary “Dolmette” is going to be tried on the track. The offer from ContiTech to do some test runs on the Continental test track attracts media attention and is a chance too good to be missed.

2.30 p.m.
The Dolmar convoy (two motor-bikes – Dolmette and Red Porsche Killer – plus the Dolmar team and the field crew) arrives at the Contidrom with a slight delay.

3.30 p.m.
The Dolmette and the Red Porsche Killer are both unloaded and got ready for the test drive.

4.00 p.m.
The Dolmette starts up and begins the test run, which ends abruptly after 700 m. The powerful engine comprising 24 PS 7900 chainsaws has bent the rear axle, “welded” the spacers onto the hub and destroyed the chain tensioner on the rear wheel.

5.00 p.m.
At the meeting with the press 23 different titles and media companies are represented by more than 30 journalists (including four TV crews, Bild am Sonntag and dpa). At the same time frantic work is going on behind the scenes to fix the Dolmette so she can be presented.

5.30 p.m.
The Dolmette motor is started up again. Rötger and Andi Feldmann pose on the Dolmette, the PS 7900 is shown off and the assembled journalists are delighted. Blinding flash lights. Once the interest seems to wear off, the Red Porsche Killer is started up. The first run ends with a dramatic mistake when changing gear. However no-one is injured and the bike is undamaged.
At around 8 p.m. the press presentation ends and the Dolmette and the Red Porsche Killer are put in a workshop at the Contidrom.

26.7.2004

The Dolmette is brought to Hamburg for further overhauling.

21.7.2004

Talks at Conti regarding details on the use of the Contidrom and the race.

18.7.2004

Following a sleepless night, work resumes on getting the machine ready. There’s not even time for breakfast – just a cigarette. Petra and Rötger Feldmann are back from a trip to Denmark. Frantic activity through till eight in the evening when the Dolmette is rolled out of workshop II. Fitted with ten motors, Dolmette is put through a trial run in first gear. Changing gear is not possible as yet but we are still pleased with the driving performance.

17.07.2004

The Dolmette is assembled in Andi’s workshop.

16.7.2004

A DOLMAR PS 7900 motor saw is screwed onto a tree trunk. The ladies’ handball team from Süderbraub are to use the chainsaw as part of their weekly fitness training.

15.7.2004

The engine is rolled out at DOLMAR. First test drive with 21 motors! In one case the starting cable snaps… two run for only a short time. Following a successful test run the motor is reloaded and taken to Andi’s.

July 2004

The motor unit is assembled in the DOLMAR experimental workshop.

18.6.2004

Petra, Rötger, Andy and Peter are at our stand at the KWF meeting near Darmstadt. Dolmettchen – a motor-bike based on the DOLMAR disc cutters and built by Andi Feldmann – makes its public debut. Autograph session for visitors.

27.4.2004

Discussions about the name - Dolmette?

23.4.2004

First colour drawing of the bike.

21.4.2004

Acquisition of first parts for the bike.

12.4.2004

Meeting on Easter Monday at Feldmann’s. Design details agreed, definite go-ahead for 24 cylinders.
Rötger comes up with the first drawing.

7.4.2004

Conti provides drive belt, rollers and other material free of charge.

3.4.2004

Extensive test runs on the cart racetrack in Fassberg near Braunschweig. Program: performance with high torque, tuning of carburettor / motors, comparison with other carts, alternative clutches which work with lower number of revs. We all have a chance to test drive the machine – we get up to 100 km.

30.3.2004

24 cylinders mentioned for the first time. Manfred Döring comes up with the first drawing.

20.3.2004

Cart presented at Andi’s (in presence of Manfred Döring, Harry Radel, Nico Brors), clutches hold, carburettor problems. First trial run on the car park. Work on cart starts. Three PS 7900 motors are linked together via drive belts and mounted on the cart in the test facility. Individual components are finished in the trainee workshop.

27.2.2004

Manfred Döring produces first detailed drawings, Conti Tech contacted about belt drives. From now on there is constant contact with the company Willebrandt (Conti) and continual talks about tyres and belts. Again and again time is spent recalculating, reviewing ideas and creating new drawings and designs. A cart is to be used for test purposes and the first contract regarding the production of components is signed.

12.2.2004

Kick-off meeting at DOLMAR. Team members are introduced, participants get to know one another, discussion of technical details.
Brösel produces the first design sketches. Mr Niemann works with Petra Feldmann to draw up a rough contract.

11.2.2004

Talks at DOLMAR with Messrs. Gorenflo, Radel, Döring and Stindt. Rough concept agreed upon (18 cylinders in four rows, in each case two rows one above the other). The right double row is turned at an angle of 180°. The individual engines are coupled together in sets of three by means of a double-sided drive belt with alternate configurations, i.e. one above/two below and two above/one below. The sets of three motors are connected via an additional drive belt arranged between the rows. The original centrifugal clutches will be used. In addition, two-speed transmission is suggested to transmit the power to the rear tyre.

30.1.2004

Andi is given a used and modified DOLMAR chainsaw (PS-6400, 79 cc).

9.1.2004

Tour of works organized for Andi Feldmann.
Ölfuss was also supposed to come, but unfortunately had to cancel.

1.12.2003

Dr Gorenflo (Head of Design + Development) and Mr Stindt (Registration) visit Feldmann. Talk with Andi Feldmann and the manager.

11.11.2003

Petra and Rötger visit the DOLMAR Gmbh plant in Hamburg-Wandsbek. During the journey to the plant, Brösel complains that he does not know what he’s doing there and does not see what Werner has to do with DOLMAR. Werner is not a forest ranger or a forestry worker, but then the idea occurs to him that Werner could build a motorbike! Today sees the first tour around the factory and initial talks with Mr Niemann, who is Marketing Manager at DOLMAR. A few ideas are put forward. Brösel is impressed by the chainsaws. He talks about the race planned for September 2004 and the book he’s working on.

August 2003

A private barbeque held at the Stindt family home with Petra and Rötger Feldmann (also called Brösel). Someone suggests joint activities. Rötger is not too keen and does not seem to know what DOLMAR really is, but agrees to a tour of the factory.
